KAPUNONGAN SA MGA BISAYA SA AUSTRIA (KBA) CELEBRATES 35TH ANNIVERSARY
Consul Candy Cypres-Bauzon delivered the Embassy’s message and congratulations to the 35th Anniversary of the Kapunongan ng mga Bisaya sa Austria (KBA) on 25 October 2024 at the Hilton Vienna Waterfront Hotel.
25 October 2024. The Kapunongan sa mga Bisaya sa Austria (KBA), a Filipino community organization in Austria, held a Gala at the Hilton Vienna Waterfront Hotel in celebration of the 35 years of their founding anniversary.
Consul Candy Cypres-Bauzon delivered the Embassy’s message and congratulations to the KBA being one of the biggest Filipino community organizations in Vienna. She praised the KBA founders for passing on the values of compassion and volunteerism to the new generation of KBA members. She expressed her gratitude and pride towards the Filipinos in Austria who contributed to the respect and high regard of Austrians to Filipinos and the Philippines.
The Gala culminated with a series of Philippine cultural dances and song numbers all performed by KBA members. END.

29 October 2024, Vienna - The Heads of Post of the ASEAN Embassies in Vienna discussed with journalist, Ms. Rosa Lyon, the political developments in Austria following the national elections in the country on 29 September 2024 during a luncheon of the ASEAN Vienna Committee (AVC).
Philippine Ambassador Evangelina A. Bernas conveyed her appreciation to Ms. Lyon for the insightful exchange of views on pressing issues in Austria and Europe. Ms. Lyon is an Austrian journalist and news anchor at Austrian Broadcasting (ORF).
The AVC luncheon was hosted by Indonesian Ambassador Damos Agusman in his capacity as Chair of the AVC. The AVC is composed of the ASEAN Embassies in Vienna, namely, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam. END

PHILIPPINES, CROATIA BOOST BILATERAL RELATIONS WITH SIGNING OF LABOR COOPERATION MEMORANDUM
Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac and his counterpart Minister Marin Piletić of the Croatian Ministry of Labor Labour and Pension System, Family and Social Policy sign the Philippines- Croatia Memorandum of Cooperation in the Field of Labor Market in Zagreb on 4 October 2024
The bilateral relations between Philippines and Croatia had a boost with the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation in the Field of Labor Market last October 4, 2024 in Zagreb, Croatia.
Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac and his counterpart Minister Marin Piletić of the Croatian Ministry of Labor Labour and Pension System, Family and Social Policy finalized the agreement that would protect the rights of overseas Filipinos in Croatia, while supporting employers’ needs for reliable workers.
“This memorandum reaffirms our shared commitment to safeguarding the rights, welfare, and dignity of Filipino workers who choose to seek opportunities here in Croatia,” Secretary Cacdac said at the signing ceremony. He added, “it also reflects our mutual recognition of the importance of fair, ethical, and transparent practices in labor relations.”
Secretary Cacdac was joined by Philippine Ambassador to Croatia Evangelina A. Bernas during the signing ceremony at the National and University Library in Zagreb. The Department of Foreign Affairs and the Philippine Embassy in Vienna, which has jurisdiction over Croatia, played key roles in the finalization of the memorandum.
The recently signed memorandum of cooperation is expected to promote fair, ethical, and equitable recruitment and employment practices as well as advocate anti-illegal recruitment and anti-human trafficking activities. END.

CROATIANS EAGER TO LEARN PH POLICIES ON OVERSEAS FILIPINO WORKERS AT EMPLOYERS SUMMIT
Ambassador Evangelina A. Bernas addresses stakeholders at the Employers’ Summit in Zagreb at the Hall of Croatian Employers Association
Zagreb, Croatia — Croatian employers gained an enhanced understanding of Philippine policies on hiring Filipino workers during an Employers Summit organized by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Philippine Embassy in Vienna. DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac led the team from the Philippine government at the summit, which had the full participation of the Croatian Employers Association and the Croatian government. The summit was part of Philippine government efforts to address the growing presence and interest in hiring Filipino workers in Croatia.
Ambassador to Croatia Evangelina A. Bernas said, “This is a proactive response to the increasing presence of the Filipino community in Croatia, estimated to be over 9,000. We want Croatian employers to be informed of the correct and legal processes of hiring Filipino workers and how to treat them in accordance with international standards.”
Sec. Cacdac said in his keynote address that underlying the growing Philippines-Croatia labor cooperation is the respect for both countries’ laws. Labor relations between the two countries is characterized by heightened coordination that will ensure efficient labor mobility, benefiting both economies.
About 80 or more stakeholders from various Croatian industries and businesses attended the event. END.
